Brit Awards 2016 : Full list of winners; Adele dominates with four awards

Winners of the 2016 Brit Awards


Adele won four gongs at the Brit Awards in London O2 Arena on Wednesday, including best album.
Here are the main winners :
British male solo artist : James Bay. The other nominees were Aphex Twin, Calvin Harris, Jamie xx and Mark Ronson.
British female solo artist : Adele. The other nominees were Amy Winehouse, Florence + The Machine, Jess Glynne and Laura Marling.
British group : Coldplay. The other nominees were Blur, Foals, One Direction and Years & Years.
British breakthrough act : Catfish And The Bottlemen. The other nominees were James Bay, Jess Glynne, Wolf Alice and Years & Years.
Brits global success award : Adele.
British single : Adele. Other nominees were Calvin Harris and Disciples, Ed Sheeran and Rudimental, Ellie Goulding, James Bay, Jess Glynne, Little Mix, Olly Murs featuring Demi Lovato, Philip George, and Years & Years.
British album of the year : Adele, "25". Other nominees were Coldplay, Florence + The Machine, James Bay, Jamie xx.
International male solo artist : Justin Bieber. Other nominees were Drake, Father John Misty, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd
International group : Tame Impala. Other nominees were Alabama Shakes, Eagles of Death Metal, Major Lazer, U2.
International female solo artist : Bjork. Other nominees were Ariana Grande, Courtney Barnett, Lana Del Rey, Meghan Trainor.
British artist video : One Direction. Other nominees were Adele, Calvin Harris and Disciples, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Little Mix, Naughty Boy featuring Beyonce and Arrow Benjamin, Sam Smith and Years & Years.
British icon award : David Bowie

“Not bad for a girl from Tottenham”, said the North London-born singer as she accepted the Global Success Award – one of a trio of prizes she won, with one category still to come.
Adele was handed the award for the British album of the year at the 2016 BRIT award ceremony in London on Wednesday night for “25”, the fourth accolade of the night for the singer.
The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard, broadcast exclusively on ITV and hosted by the kings of British entertainment TV Ant and Dec, also saw live performances from Jess Glynne, who was joined on stage for a medley of her hits “Ain’t Got Far To Go”, “Hold My Hand” and “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” by a troupe of street dancers along with a mesmerising and visual set, and The Weeknd with his Top Ten single “The Hills”.
The All I Ask singer couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with emotion after being named the victor of the global success award, which celebrates her record-breaking achievements including scoring the fastest video to reach one billion views on Vevo with Hello.
“I got really lost for a while”, she added while starting to cry.
She finished: ‘Tim Peake I love you, I hope you’re OK and not too hungry!’ “I didn’t know if I would ever come back”. I love you all so much.
Adele used the opportunity to declare support for American singer Kesha who is now involved in a legal battle with Sony Music and a producer she has accused of sexual assault.
Lennox said: “David Bowie is deeply embedded in the heart of British culture…”
There were also performances on the night by Britain’s James Bay, who was awarded best British male, and Justin Bieber, who was awarded best worldwide male. The band, who racked up its ninth Brit award, dedicated it to “all the young men and women musicians in refugee camps around the world”.
“I’m only f– -with you cats viva la mind WJPG 21.9.72 son of Margaret boy with the blues”, he wrote, ending his tirade. “The legend of his extraordinary sound shall be revered for as long as the Earth shall spin”.
The crooner was nominated for International Male Solo Artist at the awards show. “Thank you very much”.
He said: ” This just shows life is a journey, everybody has their own journey, everyone has their ups and downs.
“David, you were mortal but your potential was superhuman and your remarkable music is living on”.
Oldman introduced singer Lorde, saying Bowie had thought she was “the future of music”.

After another Ad Break, they were stood with Simon Cowell, up next was Rihanna, with her new single, Work, Drake joined her in a surprise apparence, Rihanna later went to twerk on the male singer.
